Baleshwar Mahadev Temple
Baleshwar Mahadev Temple:-
This temple is named after the memory of the great king Mahashivgupt Balarjun whose words are found all over Sirpur. His inscriptions are found all over Sirpur. There are about 3-4 temples in the complex, at each corner. All the temples are devoted to Lord Shiva and are made upon Jagati, high rise platform same as Laxman temple. He is also attributed to have built most of the monuments at this site. A number of beautiful stories are carved on the pillars and inscriptions describe the mystery of the temple.
The other attractions of the Sirpur region are Lakshman Temple, Gandheshwar Temple, Buddha Vihara. It is an old town in Mahasamund district in the state of Chhattisgarh on the banks of the river Mahanadi. It was mentioned in ancient epigraphic records. The city was once the capital of the Sarbhapuriya and Somvanshi Kings of Dakshin (South) Kosala state.
This mandir has a pair of Shiva temples side by side, said to have been built by a king for his two wives. Surrounding it are parts of other temples, which lead to the belief that this must have been a temple complex at one time. The main sanctrum in these shrines must have been in the shape of a star.
